Since our humble beginning at Apple Park in 2010, we at The Tank have emphasized Olympic Weightlifting (Oly). We have taught the classic lifts, the snatch and the clean and jerk, to our athletes and as training tools they have been unparalleled in their ability to increase speed, explosiveness, co-ordination, flexibility and strength. A natural extension of our love of and proficiency for coaching Oly and the growing interest within our community for more specialized Oly training was the development of a full-fledged Oly program. Welcome to Black Rhino Oly (BRO). We are dedicated to supporting and spreading the sport of Oly in Goderich and the surrounding area by providing our athletes the instruction and atmosphere needed to reach their goals.

Why join BRO?
We recognize that mastery in Oly is challenging to achieve in our standard group CrossFit class format. We have created BRO as a specialized program that is designed to improve the technical execution of the snatch and the clean and jerk for an athlete that:
• is looking to help improve explosiveness and power for their sport
• is looking for a better baseline level of overall strength

How do we train?
Programming will be focused on the needs of individual athletes. Athletes are giving a specific customized training program. In each training session athletes can expect to snatch or clean and jerk, perform dynamic pulling drills (such as snatch high pulls and clean pulls), perform skill transfer drills (such as muscle snatchs and snatch balances) and other supplemental exercises (such as front and back squats) for the Olympic lifts. We provide top notch coaching to get you moving through proper ranges of motion and help you develop efficient lifting technique. Teaching these movements in a controlled environment and utilizing weights that emphasize speed and technique are the best way to increase an athlete’s proficiency in Oly.image1 4

Where do we train?
We train at The Tank, which we pride ourselves as being an old-school gym with a full assortment of Oly specific equipment (lifting platforms, Oly bars and bumpers plates). Our love of the sport, coaching experience and facility have allowed us to be the first training facility in Goderich and the surrounding area to offer a specialized Oly program.

When do we train?
Training sessions are approximately an hour long and occur during regular class times. In addition we meet as a group on Saturday mornings at 7:00 till 8:00.

What is the cost?
$180 a month
